Another in my Letter series
This was done as a custom order for a 21st birthday present. Amelia is an artistic soul herself who's favorite animal is elephants and her favorite flowers are Calla Lilly's.
This is an 8" wooden letter painted white. Amelia's Mom explained that it was more than important that the elephant's trunk be up, so I found a picture of an elephant enjoying a bathe under a waterfall and decided to capture it's playful enthusiasm as best i could.
I really had no idea until this project that Calla Lilly's were so many different colors.
I had originally wanted to paint the elephant in the lilly's, but using the "A" as a canvas made this a little difficult, so I decided on the base of the "A".
I was fortunate enough to be able to go to the unwrapping of Amelia's birthday presents and was very excited to find out that Amelia loved her new "A". As you can see here, she has displayed it here with her other elephants on her elephant shelf. A place of honor for someone who holds elephants in such high regard.
You will be seeing my custom designs on my Etsy shop as time goes on. I have another that will be complete in the next few weeks.
I would love for you to join me at my blog. Just go to the bottom of the page and click on "Join this Site". I'll see you here next time.

This is the newest installment in my newest series called " The Alphabet ".
" The elephant is fixing eggs while the earth is revolving around the elderberries."
I am so very excited about these letters, oh by the way, I know I skipped the "D", it was only because I had to mail order. I do know my alphabet. Ha! Since most of my designs are a tad intricate, it does take a bit more time to paint than I would really like, but I do so like the finished product. I hope in time as I progress, I will be able to turn these over a little quicker without allowing it to affect the quality. I've never been one to slap paint on a canvas and call it a day. It just isn't going to happen.
Have a great day!
Oh yes! I have now figured out how to add the links so you can join my blog, so please check it out at the bottom of my blog and please join me so I can get to know you! I do so love to make friends!
Thanks!

Out the Back Door
July 2012
The picture on the left is a photograph a friend of mine took one evening this spring while watching a storm brewing as she looked out her back door. When I saw this posted on facebook, I asked her if I could have a copy of the photograph so that I could draw it. She said she would be honored.
I am very thrilled with how it turned out. I love the shadows in the clouds and the background landscape. I also think that the framing of the trees in the forefront make a very dramatic statement, which just makes the entire picture.
This drawing will be added to my Etsy site in the fall. I will have some Giclee prints made beforehand, since I never sell my originals. Selling my originals would be too much like selling my children, and I just couldn't do it. But, it will be on my Etsy site in the fall, so that is something to look forward to.

I have added these letters to my Etsy Shop today. They are paper mache letters that I have painted in fun colors and fun characters and shapes.
I have started asking for custom orders, but will also continue to paint letters on my own. Of course, I hope that the custom orders become so time consuming that I don't have time to do anything else. Ha! Wouldn't that be grand!
I've really enjoyed doing these letters. My first letter was a large letter that I did for my daughter. It didn't take me long at all, so I was rather amazed at how labor intensive these 8" letters are, especially when I decided to put so much detailed work on them.
These letters that are already complete are painted on both sides. If it is preferred, I can paint only one side and place a hook on them so that they can hang on a wall.
I am also have some wooden letters that I will be incorporating into my shop at some point in the future.
I'm just super excited about working with these letters. Working with them has been a lot of fun. I am really looking forward to this so much!
